Happy Tails

STAR wants to thank each and every adopter that has given their heart and home to a rescue pet.  This section of our site posts updates from our furever families.

Thanks to everyone who has sent updates.  We all appreciate the warm and fuzzies.  :)

Brutus
Brutus

Brutus has his own blog- this is all the success story we need. :) http://wazupwifdabrut.blogspot.com/ Brutus was euthanized due to complications with a paralyzed larynx in January of 2009. This boy had one of the best homes we've ever found and he will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, sweet Brutus!

Meg
Meg

Maggie is doing great!!! She is still on [incontinence] meds, but it's really not a big deal...we're just greatful that they work...otherwise we'd be pulling up the carpets and I really like carpet ;-) She's really getting much stronger. She barely has that leg shake now...only when she's played a lot all day, then she gets it at night. She's made a lot of doggie friends here...they're young and like to run around a lot, so she gets a lot of exercise with them. She does so great off the leash. She's even gotten used to my command voice, so when she's in a distracting environment, she still listens 99% of the time. We did find out that we need to definitely have a 1 animal house though. She gets pretty jealous when other dogs come in our house. We found a stray in our yard one night and brought him in the basement for the night until we could find a place for him. Mags was pretty unhappy with him here. Luckily our friend down the street took the puppy in, so now Mags is happy again. This puppy is the only other dog we've introduced her to that I've seen her not get along with well. We can't decide if she was upset bc he was getting so much attention from us or if she doesn't like that he won't submit to her. Either way, as long as they both are on leash, they're fine together. We love her so much...when I was on vacation out of the country, I was more worried about her than Kyle. And Kyle is so crazy about her! She got a little scratch on her eye the other day and had some bleeding. I was on call, so he called one of the other docs around to come look at her to make sure she was ok...it was 1 am! He keeps saying he doesn't know what he's going to do when she's gone....he said he now understands why people want to clone their dogs...ha ha...we would never do this, but he used to always make fun of people who wanted to do it and now he gets it! Anyway, thank you so much for giving maggie to us. She is one of the best things that has happened in our lives. Talk to you soon. Hope things are going well. UPDATE: Maggie passed away on April 5th, 2009 from a sudden case of bloat, despite immediate emergency hospital care. We mourn her loss along with her family and wish them our best during this sad time.

Blitz
Blitz

Blitz has gained a few pounds(ahem), but thats a prerequisite at our house! I have never met such a happy guy - he prances around when he steals my slippers and promptly rips them up. He has about 6 pairs under his belt. And he's Jakey's worst nightmare - the dog I always warned him about when HE was a pup and bugging the heck out Bart! Yep, ol Jakey has finally had to pay the piper. But they play and wrestle and are best of friends. No conflict whatsoever. Bitz doesn't run around the house, he jumps, like a bunny. And Jake just lays in wait - then they're all over the place. I could watch them play for hours. He still has a problem with Mike, regrettably, but we're still working on it. I don't know what ever happened to him, but I'm sure whatever bad thing was done to him it was done by a bald guy. But, on the bright side, he has no problem sleeping between the two of us. When he wakes up in the morning he's equally glad to see both of us. I can't figure it out. Mike gets out of the shower and he viciously goes after him. Jake escorts him out of the bathroom.....by the neck.....nicely.... We love him and he loves us. Me a little more than Mike..... : ) but that's ok! He's my little shadow. My Lil Bit! I've attached a typical picture of him. He likes blankets and afghans!

Penny
Penny

Her behavior so far has been PERFECT!! She is such a happy girl and hopefully the six months will go fast so that she will be able to be a therapy dog. She loves her new haircut and now she doesn't do as much panting when we go for walks. Her leg/hip are doing well and she seems to really be walking around ok. She is still on her diet and has learned that she is not allowed to take food from the kids, especially Ashlyn. Ashlyn always seems to be carrying food or playing kitchen. Penny still follows her around, but does not get anything!! She has never had an accident and still loves playing with Bonnie. Ashlyn has donated one stuffed animal which has now being ripped apart, but other than that Penny has not touched any other stuffed animals and Ashlyn loves leaving them on the floor. Penny is such a bright girl!!! Erika

Ashley
Ashley

It did not take long for Ashley to become a part of our family. She makes herself comfortable on the couch during the day when no one is home and on the bottom of our bed at night. Some of her favorite activities include playing hide and seek, stealing paper from the trash to begin a chase game, and going for daily walks with Dave. Riding in the car, chewing pressed rawhide and receiving belly rubs are also Ashley’s favorite pastimes. Even though we have found that Ashley does not like loud noises, like gunshots, fireworks or thunder, Ashley enjoys her new life!
