Description: Meet "Smooch." It sounds like a silly
name, but he loves it and comes when called! He drops what he's doing
and comes running like his tail is on fire if you make a kiss noise
with your mouth, and he loves to GIVE you smooches.
We've
only just gotten him into foster care after he's spent a month in a
kennel so we're learning about him. So far he seems great with dogs and
cats but doesn't really play with them and certainly doesn't need a dog
playmate to be happy as long as he has people attention. He's extremely
oriented to humans, just a cuddlebug who wants to be in your lap. He
DOES bark a bit more than many dogs, which is a schnauzer breed trait.
He needs to be taught that he can't bark to get what he wants, but he
should learn this with consistency. He's very smart and active. I
hesitate to call him hyper as he's not settled in quite yet but he's
spent much of his first two days here being very energetic. If you
ignore him for a few minutes he does tend to settle and lay down at
your feet. Seems house trained, knows exactly what a crate is and goes
in willingly, and seems to know how to sit and lay down though he needs
some practice with each. He's easy to walk on a leash and needs a lot
of exercise- this is NOT a lap dog! If you are looking for a tiny
inactive companion, seek an older, less active breed!
